← Chartwell House private day trip
Chartwell, the family home of Sir Winston Churchill, sits in the Kent countryside near Westerham, about 25 miles south-east of central London. It is one of the most rewarding day trips from the capital, but it is not on the railway, so planning the journey matters.

Chartwell is on Mapleton Road, just south of Westerham in Kent. From central London the drive is usually around an hour to an hour and a half, depending on traffic, via the M25 and country lanes.
There is no railway station at Chartwell. The nearest stations are Sevenoaks, Oxted and Edenbridge, each several miles away. From any of them you will need a local taxi for the last stretch, and again for the return. Rural taxis are limited, so book both directions in advance and allow for waiting time.
There is no direct bus from central London. Local services in the area are infrequent, so check timetables carefully, especially for the journey back.
Driving is the most straightforward independent option, with parking at the estate. Remember that the final miles are on narrow country roads, and UK driving is on the left.
We collect you from your accommodation, include your Chartwell entrance tickets, give you five unhurried hours at the house and gardens, and bring you back. Private for your group of up to 7, from £350 per group, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
